Exploring and Writing Poetry for 5 to 11 years (Key Stage 1 and 2)

This resource has been designed to support KS1/2 teachers in the teaching of reading and writing poetry in the classroom. It contains sample exercises that you can use in your own classrooms, as well as extension activities for older or more capable students.

A war poetry resource pack co-commissioned by 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War Centenary. It contains:

  • Information on WWI and War poetry learning resources
  • The poetry produced as part of the ‘Fierce Light’ project
  • In-text glossaries and reference guides
  • Brief biographical profiles on the poets
  • Suggested classroom discussion questions
  • Suggested activities.

Key Stage 2 resource pack

A resource pack designed from our Stories from the Quarter project that explores, shares and celebrates the stories of the vibrant and diverse communities that live and work in Norwich.

It contains:

  • The stories produced as part of the ‘Stories From the Quarter’ project
  • Information on oral histories, and what we can learn from other people’s stories
  • Suggested activities which explore our sense of place and community
  • Suggested classroom discussion questions.
