This year the National Centre for Writing has put together a series of literary journeys that will guide you through our exciting City of Literature weekend at Norfolk & Norwich Festival 2019.
With a programme of fresh and original literary voices, along with award-winning writers and publishers, we invite you to celebrate Norwich as a UNESCO City of Literature and a home to writers, thinkers, storytellers and readers. Browse the curated journeys we’ve suggested and book four or more events together to get a £1.50 discount per ticket.
Our fourth journey, ‘Adventures in Fiction’, celebrates the best in forthcoming titles from our favourite writers and publishers in 2019 – plus some very important anniversaries!

Eavesdrop on an intimate conversation between two of the most influential and critically-acclaimed writers of our day: Man Booker Prize judge and nominee Sarah Hall and New York Times/Paris Reviewcontributor and Nabokov expert Lila Azam Zanganeh. Fire & Rain

Two spectacular new voices in literature transport us into wildly magical settings. The Fire Starters by Jan Carson is a tale of fierce familial love and sacrifice that fizzes with wonder. The Half-God of Rainfall by Inua Ellams is an epic story and lyrical exploration of pride, power and female revenge across mythologies.
Celebrating 20 Years of Salt

We take enormous pleasure in celebrating 20 years of Salt Publishing, one of the UK foremost independent publishers based in Cromer, Norfolk. The Path to Publication: 40 Years of Granta magazine

From Nobel laureates to debut novelists, international translations to investigative journalism, Granta magazine has been publishing intelligent, ground-breaking writing for 40 years. Here, Granta editor Sigrid Rausing and writer and Guardian journalist Ian Jack discuss the practical skills and insider knowledge needed to succeed in your journey to publication.
