The writing challenges of Outer Wilds
In conversation with lead writer Kelsey Beachum

On this week’s podcast we return to the world of games writing to discuss the creation of Outer Wilds with its lead writer Kelsey Beachum. Rapturously received on release earlier this year, Outer Wilds is a unique game combing exploration and puzzles with a non-linear story in which the primary motivator and reward is knowledge.

Kelsey discusses the origins of the project, how she came to be involved and the challenges of distributing a non-linear narrative into an open world where the player has final control over the storytelling.

Hosted by Simon Jones and Steph McKenna.
