Virtual Book Club Discussion: The Manningtree Witches

Wednesday 25 May
Online (Zoom)
6-7.30pm BST
Free - please register in advance

Join us and share your passion for reading! The Manningtree Witches by AK Blakemore has been revealed as our new book.

Every two months we meet in person and virtually over tea and biscuits to discuss some of the best works in contemporary literature. We’ll explore short stories, novels, non-fiction, poetry, and works in translation, making these informal and friendly sessions the perfect way to meet like-minded readers and to discover exciting new reads. We’ll always choose books that are easy to purchase in hard copy online or in e-book format.

We are reading The Manningtree Witches by AK Blakemore (published by Granta) during April and May 2022. This beautifully written historical novel won the Desmond Elliott Prize and explores the witch trials of 17th century East Anglia with a humane grace. Sandra Newman said it was ‘not just the best debut novel I’ve read in years, it’s the best historical novel I’ve read since Wolf Hall’.

Spaces are limited so we recommend booking your place in advance. This discussion will take place via Zoom – further details will be sent to you a few days prior to the event.

Place an order with The Book Hive. Mention the NCW Book Club and you can purchase The Manningtree Witches with a 20% discount. The book is also available for purchase direct from the publisher via the Granta website.

In person book club discussion (part of the City of Literature strand of Norfolk & Norwich Festival), Friday 27 May, 6pm, NCW, Dragon Hall → fully booked!
