Poetry Pulse with Anna Cathenka (four-week course)
Our ‘back to basics’ pulse courses are perfect for both first-time writers and more practised writers who wish to refresh their technique. Using a mixture of discussion, writing exercises and (optional) individual feedback, you’ll gain confidence in handling three fundamental elements of your chosen form.
In ‘Poetry Pulse’ published poet and experienced tutor Anna Cathenka will help you to sharpen your skills in balancing voice, meter and rhyme in your poetry.
Week 1: What does a poem look like? Experimenting with visual form
Week 2: What does a poem sound like? Rhythm, sound and the use of voice
Week 3: What does a poem do? Poetic devices and form as an expression of content
Week 4: What does a poem say? Conversations with contemporary poems and poems having conversations
This course runs every Wednesday evening, 7 – 9pm, for four weeks.
