12 Steps from Genius
Can success really be found in the bottom of a glass? Based on Leslie Jamison’s personal and profound book The Recovering: Intoxication and its Aftermath, this event will centre on a performance in the form of a fictional twelve-step meeting with depictions of writers including Stephen King, Jean Rhys, and David Foster Wallace.
Raw, honest, humbling and even humorous – 12 Steps explores the inner workings of some of our greatest 20th-century writers, how they walk the fine line between genius and dysfunction, and how often, the recovery is more gripping than the addiction.
At the end of the show there will be an opportunity to purchase The Recovering: Intoxication and its Aftermath with a unique engraving.
