Heritage Open Day at Dragon Hall
Drop into Dragon Hall on King Street and discover the colourful history of this magnificent Grade I-listed medieval merchant’s hall as well as the work of its present custodians, the National Centre for Writing.
Explore the spandrels and undercroft of one of the city’s most unique and beautiful buildings, and chat with NCW staff and Dragon Hall Heritage Volunteers. Enjoy pop-up readings led by National Centre for Writing communities and a special performance by the North Walsham Writers’ Group.
11am – 7pm: Drop in and explore Dragon Hall
11am – 12noon: Zine-making workshop for families
Cut, stick and create your own zine at this family-friendly workshop, led by Norwich Millennium Zine Library. Using local history and Dragon Hall as inspiration, this session will encourage young participants to creatively respond to the building around them and make their own paper zine using a variety of craft materials. Recommended ages 7+ but younger participants are welcome with an accompanying adult.

2 – 5pm: Workshop exploring East & South East Asian experiences through writing
Join Melissa Fu and Yin F Lim for a writing workshop that explores and celebrates East and South East Asian (ESEA) heritage and experiences, in conjunction with ESEA Heritage Month 2022. 5 – 6.30 pm: Republic of Reading Gala
Celebrate reading, writing, music and libraries with a gala hosted by the current writer in residence in Norfolk libraries, Elena Traina. The event will feature guest writers and musicians and will showcase some of the creative work produced in libraries on The Good Hour and Creative You(th) programmes in North Walsham, Cromer, Norwich and Great Yarmouth.
