Extraordinary Times Call for Extraordinary Women
Great writing knows no borders: novelist and women’s rights activist Elif Shafak will reveal her selection of some of the best women writers working today as part of a major new showcase of UK writing.
The International Literature Showcase is a two-year partnership between the National Centre for Writing and British Council. Elif will be joined by a number of her chosen writers to discuss their work and the gendered experience in contemporary literature.

Elif Shafak is an award-winning novelist and political scientist. She is the author of 10 novels, including The Forty Rules of Love and The Bastard of Istanbul. An advocate for women’s rights and LGBT rights and freedom of speech, she has been awarded Chevalier des Arts and des Lettres.
