Dragon Hall Social
Join Norwich’s writing community for a free evening of conversation, ideas and support!
Open to anyone who makes, reads and works with words, the Dragon Hall Social is an opportunity to grab a drink from the bar, meet people, cook up plans and compare notes, to talk books, and to hear what’s happening in Norwich.
This week we’ll be hosting our two Common People writers Jenny Knight and Eva Verde, along with our Dutch writer in residence Bregje Hofstede. We’ll be thinking about what community means to writers and creators.
What is Common People?
The Common People project was created by Kit de Waal who worked with regional literature development associations to select unpublished working class writers from across England for an anthology. As well as providing a publishing platform for new talent, the Common People Anthology featured well-known writers including Malorie Blackman, Louise Doughty and Stuart Maconie.
Our writers from the East were Jenny Knight (Suffolk) and Eva Verde (Essex) who received mentoring and support as part of the programme, and recently appeared at the inaugural Primadonna Festival.
We’re partnering up with the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE) to co-host their next free networking event for East of England writers and educators. This informal get-together will take place before our monthly social. This is a great opportunity to meet up with fellow writers and educators involved in creative writing in school, community, FE or HE settings to share experiences, ideas and support. Start time 5.30pm. Places are free but must be reserved in advance on Eventbrite.
