UEA Publishing Project
Based in the Interdisciplinary Institute for the Humanities, the Publishing Project has been set up as an innovative and experimental university press.
The UEA Publishing Project exists to:
- Join up and enhance UEA’s publishing activity
- Streamline and improve pathways to impact for the REF
- Provide an invaluable creative/practice-based learning resource
- Will be a challenger brand for HE and academic publishing
- Further improve UEA’s employability offer
- Encourage interdisciplinary collaboration
- Have fun

Works closely with the school for Literature, Drama and Creative Writing, home of the world-renowned Master of Arts in Creative Writing and conducts experiments in poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and everything in-between. We pride ourselves on our distinctive design approach and are interested in writing that breaks a mould.
Exquisitely designed new works of fiction, poetry and non-fiction by writers and artists of the East Anglian region, as well as new editions of classics.
Believes in translation as cultural exchange. Dedicated to publishing the finest literature in translation in innovative formats in collaboration with the British Centre for Literary Translation and National Centre for Writing. It takes its name from The Strangers of the 16th century: a group of economic migrants from the Spanish Netherlands invited to help boost the nation’s textile industry and who left a lasting cultural impression on the region.

You can explore some of the Publishing Project’s work via Open Access Titles. This is, for the time being, a sandpit, experimenting with some Open Access tools for UEA using Manifold, in collaboration with CUNY Graduate Center, the University of Minnesota Press, and Cast Iron Coding; and Quire, in collaboration with Getty.
