People’s Poem for Wensum
Help us tell the story of the River Wensum and its connection to our city.
Join us for a free, drop-in creative session where people of all ages are invited to help shape a unique community poem inspired by the river that flows through the heart of Norwich.
This welcoming event is an opportunity to share your thoughts, memories and feelings about the River Wensum. Whether it’s a single word, a favourite place, a treasured memory, a phrase, or a sentence, every contribution will help tell the story of the river and its connection to our city.
The ideas gathered during the session will feed into a special poem commissioned by the National Centre for Writing as part of Norwich UNESCO City of Literature. The finished work will celebrate the rights of the River Wensum and highlight the many ways this remarkable waterway shapes our communities, environment and sense of place.
No writing experience is needed. Drop in any time between 4 and 7pm — all you need is your curiosity, creativity, and your connection to the river!
Programmed by National Centre for Writing for ‘Where the River Meets Us’, a festival delivered by Norwich City Council
