In this fun and imaginative workshop, you’ll create your own character from the Middle Ages and write in their voice.

Design your own medieval character and give them a voice!

In this fun and imaginative workshop with playwright Nadia Lines, you’ll create your own character from the Middle Ages and write in their voice. Using character sheets and creative prompts you’ll learn how to write a dramatic monologue that brings your character’s secret thoughts to life. Whether you write a poem, a speech, or something totally unique, this workshop is all about creativity, curiosity, and having fun with words.

As a playwright and director, Nadia Lines has worked with over one hundred different students on eight different productions. Her playwrighting credits include The York Crucifixion, a modern adaptation of the medieval mystery play; The Shropshire Wyrm, an absurd exploration of the experience of neurodiversity and queerness in small town England; and The Book of Margery Kempe, a fast-paced, time-travelling retelling of the life of the medieval mystic.

Suitable for 11–13-year-olds.
