Learn to write true adventure with our fantasy workshop!
In this workshop you will investigate a variety of approaches to structure, story and plot and how they can be applied to the fantasy genre in particular. With its unique capacity for manipulating time, place and pace, fantasy is the ideal genre to experiment with both traditional and non-traditional approaches to structure and story.
You’ll experiment with the different forms a fantasy short story or novel might take, drawing inspiration from a range of authors and foundational fantasy works.
Through written exercises you’ll consider how your choice of story structure can affect the development of your plot, whether it’s at the ideas stage or already a work in progress.
You’ll also come away with a reading list of works that have both traditional and innovative structures, resources to further your reading on story, and ideas that will help you take the next steps in your project.
