Join the NaNoWriMo writing challenge!
Unleash your creativity this November

Are you itching to write a novel? Do you need a bit of a push? Join the millions of people all over the world unleashing their creativity, writing their novels and finding their voices for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).

This year, we’re getting involved by sharing a prompt-a-day on Twitter (@WritersCentre) to help you ward off those writers’ block demons and take the plunge into writing the novel you’ve always dreamed of. Find out all you need to know about how to get involved below.

What is it?

NaNoWriMo is a not-for-profit organisation offering structure, community, and encouragement to writers who want to develop a consistent writing habit. Writing a novel alone can be isolating, the online forum allows writers from diverse backgrounds to offer encouragement, updates and advice to each other.  Every day you set aside time to write with the aim of hitting 50,000 words by the end of November.

How do I get involved?

  • Create your free online profile and set up a new project
  • Track your progress by setting targets and logging your word count
  • Join your regional forum to receive updates on free events designed specifically to help you finish your novel

Hitting 50,000 words is great but developing a consistent writing habit and getting your first draft down is the main aim of the challenge. NaNoWriMo is designed to help you fall back in love with writing – for once it’s not quality over quantity. Sit down at your keyboard, unleash your ideas and let creativity flow.
